Why Practice Yoga? Yoga seeks to create spaciousness in the physical body and a keen sense of awareness in the mind. Ancient yogis regularly performed asana (postures) to stretch and open then body in preparation for meditation. Practicing yoga regularly helps us move through the things that challenge us on a daily basis with grace, compassion, a sense of ease and comfort, and even a sense of humor.

the physical effects of stress on the body. By encouraging relaxation,
yoga helps to lower the levels of stress hormones. Related benefits

boosting the immune system, as well as easing symptoms of conditions

Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga: Taking a Conscious Journey into Motherhood -by Nicole Coons
Nothing anyone could have told me could have prepared me for experience of the birth of my first child. And yet, I made it through...blissfully, bleary-eyed and awestruck, all at once.
Looking back, I can say with certainty that my yoga practice prepared me in more ways than I realized. Not just for the physical labor and delivery part (whoa, what a ride that was!), but for everything that was to follow.
Welcome to the first installation of my Conscious Journey into Motherhood blog. As my journey unfolds, I will share my personal experiences and reflections on how yoga helped me (and continues to support me) in the hope that you, too, are encouraged to share.
